The technique of carving requires a perfect mastery, which has now almost totally disappeared.
The wood is entirely hand carved, using particular work tools called "gouges and scalpels".
Once the carving is completed, the frame is gilded with the gold leaf gilding technique.
The gilding of this object is performed with the technique of "gouache" gilding. The gold leaf is applied with a warm tempera. The surface is then burnished and glazed, and then protected by a transparent varnish.
They are ancient frames characterised by refined carving and are available in limited quantities.
